About Us
How We Got Started
Musicians Serving Musicians for Over 30 Years
Musician's Friend was founded in 1983 by Rob and DeAnna Eastman. The Eastmans started out of their garage in suburban California after Rob's parents loaned them $5,000 as start-up capital. Eventually, Rob and DeAnna moved their headquarters from San Diego to a dairy farm in southern Oregon, where they, along with their brother-in-law, Al Dinardi, grew the company into a well-known direct marketer of music equipment.
Our first catalog was a simple two-color flyer featuring discounted guitar strings and a few other accessories. With hard work and a deep understanding of the music industry, things changed quickly. We were one of the first catalog marketers of music equipment and one of the first to focus exclusively on equipment for rock bands, so we experienced incredibly rapid growth.
We started out on a dairy farm and have come a long way. Today, we have multiple stores across the United States, offering fast delivery and exceptional customer service. Our corporate headquarters are located in sunny Westlake Village, California. Our two support centers are located in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Indianapolis, Indiana. Finally, our 700,000 square foot distribution center is located in Kansas City, Missouri
